This lecture series will be taught by Sarah Ozolins.

Gnosis is a school dedicated to psychological and esoteric self-knowledge
through the application of timeless spritual Truths, or Teachings.

Gnosis, or truth, lives within each of us, but it is our task to awaken to that truth.

Seminar on Death: You're invited!

"The fear of death follows from the fear of life.
A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time."
~Mark Twain

The Missoula Gnosis Center will be holding a public seminar on the mysteries of death and dying, and you're invited!

From the moment we are born, we are destined to die,
but we carry the fear of death with us throughout.
This fear is based in profound ignorance and unconsciousness.
Instead, let us live consciously so that we can die consciously.

Love

"Love and resentments are incompatible atomic substances.
Thus, resentments of any kind cannot exist within love.
Love is eternal forgiveness.

Love exists within those who feel true anguish for the suffering of
their friends and enemies. True love exists in those who work with all of their
heart for the well-being of the humble, of the poor, of the needy.

Love exists within those who, in a natural and spontaneous manner,
feel sympathy for the peasant who waters the field with the sweat of his body,
or for the villager who suffers, or for the begger who asks for alms,
or for the humble dog who, in anguish and sickness, dies of hunger on the
side of the road.

Authentic generosity, true sympathy, and love exist when we help someone
with all of our heart; when in a natural and spontaneous manner
-without anyone demanding it from us- we take care of a tree
and water the flowers of a garden. . .

. . .We must be generous from our very heart, since true generosity
is not of the mind; authentic generosity
is the perfume of the heart."

We Are The World

Have you ever wanted to change the world?
It starts when we are young. We get to a certain age, look around, and realize that most people are inherently selfish, and our parents and the government don't know everything. We see suffering, war, famine, disease, and we want to do something about it. We might want to help starving people in Africa, save the turtles from extinction, discover the cure for cancer, and even protest for World Peace.
But despite this, we may still fight with our in-laws, hate our boss, and yell at people when they cut us off in traffic.
We can't expect that our country won't go to war when our household or workplace are mini war zones.
Society is composed of many individuals.
If the individuals possess greed, hatred, envy and anger, the fabric of society will be stained with those defects.

So how do we truly change the world?
Above the entrance to the Temple of Delphi is written the famous line "Nosce te Ipsum"; "Man, know thyself and you shall know the universe and its gods".
To change the world, we must change ourselves. Truly, this is the only way.
Do we know why we are here? Do we know where exactly we came from? Do we know what will happen to us after we die?
These are some of the questions that can follow us our whole life. But if we want to find the answers, we need the tools to wisely look inside and discover our psychological and esoteric realities.
We have the power to radically eliminate our undesirable psychological elements and to cultivate the virtues of love, compassion, fogiveness, and serenity.
This change is what will change the world, like a single drop of rain that sends ripples out across the water.

"If we want to do away with the greed of the World, we should profoundly comprehend that this World is within our own selves. We are the World. The greed of everyone else lies within us" -Samael Aun Weor

What is Gnosis?

Consciousness that sleeps...
How different you would be if you were awakened...
You would know the seven paths of happiness, shine the light of your love everywhere,
the birds would rejoice within the mystery of your woods,
the light of your spirit would shine and, joyful,
the elementals would sing verses for you in choir.”
-Samael Aun Weor

Gnosis is the greek word for experiential knowledge. It is distinguished from episteme which refers to an intellectual or theoretical knowledge. The true seeker goes beyond the intellectual study or the mere belief in spiritual principles and instead endeavors to verify those principles through direct experience. Gnosis is a mystical insight that reveals itself within the consciousness of the individual.

Gnosis is not a product of time, place, culture, or personality. It is the essential perennial truth which has been present since the dawn of humankind. It has been called the golden thread that runs through all great religions and spiritual traditions. Every teaching that contains a spark of truth contains gnosis. Throughout time, sages and saints have addressed the reality of human suffering and offered methods for the path of liberation. This path is found within our consciousness. When we awaken to our reality as an essence, a spark of Divinity, we can begin to release ourselves from the limits of our mechanical nature.

Gnosis offers tools and meditation practices for our own spiritual development. The awakening of the consciousness is not dependent on external factors or the environment. The awakening of consciousness occurs here and now in our day-to-day lives where infinite potential exists within the profound bosom of the moment.

Heaven and Hell

HEAVEN AND HELL ARE INTERNAL STATES:
A samurai came to see a famous teacher, hoping to become his student.
He asked:
"Master, perhaps you could tell me about heaven and hell?"

The old master simply said to him, "Why should I bother? Somebody as stupid as you could never understand!"

The samurai was seized by rage at this insulting old man and drew his sword to strike the man down.
"That is hell!" said the master.
Realizing he had been given a great lesson, the samurai sheathed his sword and bowed deeply in gratitude

"And that is heaven!" said the master.
